The idea of a
World Friendship Day was first proposed on
20 July 1958 by
Dr. Ramon Artemio Bracho....
during a dinner with friends in Puerto Pinasco, a town on the River Paraguay about 200 miles north of Asuncion.

World Friendship Crusade નો જન્મ થયો.
આ સંગઠન ;
promotes friendship and fellowship among all human beings, regardless of race, color or religion.
Since then,
30 July has been faithfully celebrated as Friendship Day in Paraguay every year.
હવે દુનિયા ના દેશો પણ આ પ્રસ્તાવ ને સ્વિકારી ને વર્ષ ના જુદાં જુદાં દિવસે પોત પોતાનો ફ્રેન્ડશીપ ડે ઉજવે છે ભારત માં ઑગસ્ટ ના પ્રથમ રવિવારે આ દિવસ ની ઉજવણી કરાય છે.
Friendship Day was originated by Joyce Hall, the founder of Hallmark cards in 1930, intended to be 2 August and a day when people celebrated their friendships.
Those who promote the holiday in South Asia attribute the tradition of dedicating a day in honor of friends to have originated in the United States in 1935, but it actually dates from 1919. The exchange of Friendship Day gifts like flowers, cards and wrist bands is a popular tradition of this occasion.
અંગ્રેજી માં કહેવાતા ફ્રેન્ડ શબ્દ ને સંસ્કૃત " મિત્ર " શબ્દ કહે છે..
मित्र શબ્દ એ માપવાના અર્થ માં વપરાતા શબ્દ मित પર થી આવેલ છે...
જે માનવસંબંધો માં તોલ - માપ કે ગણતરી વિના અસીમ પ્રેમભાવના હોય છે એને मित्रता કહેવાય છે
અને એના કર્તા ને मित्र કહે છે.
અહિંયા त्र એ તાણી જનાર ના અર્થ માં છે...
ગણતરી જે ના કરે એવા ભાવાર્થ માં છે...
मित्र શબ્દ જયારે પુલિંગ તરીકે વપરાય છે ત્યારે માગશર માસ ના સૂર્યદેવ નું સુચન કરે છે
અને જયારે નાન્યતર લિંગ માં વપરાય છે ત્યારે સખા કે દોસ્ત ના અર્થ માં હોય છે
એટલે કે મિત્ર એ સૂર્યસમાન છે. પોષક અને પ્રકાશક...
નિરંતર એકસમાન તેજ આપનાર તટસ્થ ... સ્થિર... અને સ્થિતી ના પક્ષપાત વિના...
